The 3rd Digital Film Festival of Athens will be held September 1-10 this year with the support of The Organization of Culture Youth and Sports of the Municipality of Athens.

The 3rd AIDFF will showcase 120 films in competition at the track with 60 premieres from 35 countries. In all categories, Fiction, Documentary, Video Art, Animation, Experimental, dominated by independent production, without obligation, free from issues and prejudices.

The filmmakers adopt a more flexible mode of production, highlighting the virtues of the medium is the immediacy, convenience, and experimentation. The Festival achieves alignment of modern cinematic reality in Greece with the major international developments in the cinema, which is moving steadily towards the Digital Age.

As part of his creative side events include tributes to the director Lucia Rikaki that he particularly loved the digital film script and the director put in plain view experimentation, Thanasis Rentzis. The Festival honors actor Lefteris Voyatzis with the film "Acropolis" directed by Pantelis Voulgaris.

Opportunity to navigate the world of special actors with interpretations astonish the viewer. The Festival introduces a new category of “Meet shorts known directors”.  In this category you will enjoy films of Dimitris Athanitis, Yiannis Maroudas and Michael Galanakis.

Those who visit the festival will have the opportunity to attend tributes from Edge Hill University, films new directors that were created specifically for the festival, winning Short films from Tokyo, while touring ecological destinations through international festivals, Wildlife Vaasa Festival Finland (partner of the Festival) and Wildlife Conservation Film Festivals, New York USA, (partner of the Festival).

The 3rd Digital Film Festival of Athens in collaboration with the Finnish Wildlife Vaasa Festival will present a special screening program the “1st Panorama Ecological and Scientific Films”, contributing to the dissemination of science through the power of new media and digital technologies used today by scientists around the world. The special screenings program will be complemented well with panel discussion focusing on the role of film festivals today dissemination and public awareness about current science and technology issues of common interest. The program is curated by Artistic Directors of two Festivals Christos N. Karakasis (3rd Digital Film Festival of Athens) and Elias G. Misyris (Wildlife Vaasa Festival) with the support of Ya'an Panda Animal and Nature Film Festival (Ya'an, China) and Wildlife Conservation Film Festivals (New York, USA).

During the 3rd AIDFF starts a new Art Movement entitled “Visual Journeys” first trip to an art exhibition with BARBARA SPYROULI, HELEN ZOCHNTI BLETSOU, ALEXANDROS PERROS, GEORGE PANTOULAS, DIMITRIS PSOMODOTIS and a tribute to painter HELEN BOCIOU.
